As the anniversary of ANZAC draws closer next month so does the number of books published on this and related subjects. This is true of picture books – for children and all ages. We’ve been gathering a selection of these books and have many signed by the authors and illustrators.  

We welcome visitors to our showroom to browse these titles or you can check them out on our website. School orders receive a 10% discount.

A  new title to be added to this list in March, and one which we’ll be promoting this month, is Digger: the dog who went to war written & illustrated by Mark Wilson, published by Hachette,

Mark will join us between 1pm to 3pm to demonstrate his book illustration and sign books. 

Mark is an award winning author/illustrator with over 30 children’s books in print world-wide. His books are published in seven languages in Australia, North America, Canada, Asia and Europe.
Mark has a passion for Australian history & the environment, especially endangered species. These are recurring themes in both his picture books and workshops, which feature his new picture books for 2015, Digger - the Dog Who Went to War (Hachette), We’re All Australians Now (Harper Collins) & The Horse Soldier (Windy Hollow). 
 
Digger – the dog who went to war will be released on March 10 and we invite you to congratulate Mark and celebrate his achievement with us at Fed Square!

Two new limited edition giclee prints from this book will also be on display and available for sale on our website.

Parks Shire Library/Gallery in NSW

Are We There Yet?: A Journey around Australia exhibition, based on the classic Australian picture book by former Children's Laureate Alison Lester, is being shown in Parks Shire Library/Gallery in NSW from Feb 23 to March 29.
Alison chose six wonderful images from this book to be reproduced as limited edition prints  Books Illustrated

Book illustrations from contemporary Australian children's books about war. 

This exhibition celebrates the centenary of the ANZAC legend and the range of unique approaches to creating illustrated books for children on these themes. The original illustration mediums and styles are varied and inspiring and the accompanying research and preliminary work is fascinating. 
ANZAC illustrated is exhibited as part of the Newcastle Writers' Festival  March 20 to 22.

Two author/illustrator's represented in the exhibition, Andrew Plant and Mark Wilson, are scheduled for talks and workshops during the exhibition.

Meeting the Gruffalo!
Books Illustrated and the team from the Australian Children's Literature Alliance (ACLA) were delighted to meet with Julia Donaldson, Malcolm Donaldson and Alyx Price while they were touring Melbourne and Sydney with a storytelling performance of many of Julia's well-loved stories - including The Gruffalo!
