New Signed Books and Limited Edition Giclee Prints

This month we are delighted to be introducing a new illustrator to our website,
Shane Mc Gowan.

Shane lives in Melbourne with his partner and over-indulged ginger cat. He has written and/or illustrated over 20 picture books including Evie's Mad Hair Day (Templar), Zelda's Big Adventure written by Marie Alafaci (Allen and Unwin) and Trainbots written by Miranda Paul (Little Bee).

A number of books he has illustrated have been CBCA Notable books, and he has been awarded numerous Gold, Silver and Bronze medals from Illustrators Australia and selected to appear in various 3x3 International Picture Book Awards. See more on Shane's website.

Shane has chosen two illustrations from Zelda's big Adventure to have made into limited edition prints which are now available for sale on our website. Shane produced the original illustrations digitally.
Author, Marie Alafaci gives some background to the story ...
I started writing Zelda’s Big Adventure because of one of our two hens.
Two of our chooks, Flame and Angel, kept escaping. While Flame liked to stay close to home and only went as far as the back fence, Angel was always fluttering off as far as she could roam. I once found her in the front yard, happy as you like in the Crepe Myrtle tree where she had spent the night. Even though I live in suburban Melbourne, there are lots of foxes about, and I was sure she’d been taken in the night. When I found her the next morning clucking and wondering about breakfast, I was relieved, to say the least. I brought her back into the yard and gave her some seeds, but it made me wonder where it was she had wanted to go and why she was such an explorer. For some reason, the idea that she wanted to be an astronaut popped into my head and I began working on Zelda’s story from there.
