Books Illustrated wishes everyone a happy and fulfilling New Year!

For those born under the sign of the Dragon it's already an auspicious start.

It also promises to be an interesting one for those of us who are keen on reading, books and story, as 2012 is National Year of Reading and there will be activities to engage people of all ages right around Australia.

As well as our own 2012 program, which is looking very full indeed!, Books Illustrated has been engaged by National Year of Reading to tour the exhibition of Alison Lester's award winning picture book Are we there yet? to every state and territory during 2012 as part of this celebration and promotion. The exhibition opens in Darwin on February 1. You can follow the tour on the National Year of Reading web site.

We were delighted when the NYoR committee selected Are we there yet? as the focus book for the National Year of Reading program.

It's a wonderfully inclusive book and echoes many families' experiences travelling round Australia.

Federation Square Book Market

The Fed Square Book Market is the city's largest and most central - being in the Atrium at Federation Square. It runs each Saturday from 11.00 am to 5.00 pm.

Books Illustrated attends the market on the second Saturday of each month. As well as a range of quality children's books and a display of prints, we have the added attraction of an illustrator working on our stand being filmed live and shown on the big screen!
