Are We There Yet? NYoR Touring Exhibition

Alison Lester's classic picture book
Are we there Yet?: A journey around Australia, is the focus book for NYoR. An exhibtion of the art for the book, curated by Books Illustrated, is on its own journey around Australia, touring to every state and territory during 2012.

Ann Haddon & Ann James attended the opening of this exhibition at the first venue - Darwin Library on Feb 1.

The exhibition includes a Braille version of the book published by Vision Australia, available as both a bound book and a Daisy (audio) version and available from Vision Australia Library.

Exhibitions of Children's book illustration

Don't miss the opportunity to see some of these great exhibitions being shown at various venues around Australia.

  • Jeannie Baker's Mirror – an exhibition of her latest wordless picture book. Canberra Museum and Art Gallery - March 24 to May 20.
  • Hooked on Books: Albert Ullin Collection of Children's Picture Book Illustrations (1974–2009) Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery Launceston - February 10 to June 17.
  • Are We There Yet?: a journey around Australia – will be at Canberra Civic Library from March 12 to March 30.
  • If you are traveling overseas in March you could catch an exhibition of Australian picture book art promoting current Australian picture books at the Australian Stand, Bologna Children's Book Fair in Bologna, Italy March 19 to 22.

New Limited Edition Prints

Judy Watson - Kiss Grandpa once, kiss Grandpa twice - Limited Edition Print - $90.

Judy Watson is a Melbourne based illustrator. She has illustrated 15 children's books, many of them chapter books for young readers. Her first picture book, Goodnight Mice is published by ABC Books. For this book she teamed up with Frances Watts, author of the 'Extraordinary Ernie & Marvellous Maud' series, which Judy also illustrates.

Goodnight Mice is a joyous bed time story, full of humour, and a celebration of family life - as are the illustrations she has chosen to offer as limited edition giclee prints.

All are on view and for sale at www.booksillustrated.com.au/prints – or ring to make an appointment to visit.

Federation Square Book Market

The Fed Square Book Market is the city's largest and most central - being in the Atrium at Federation Square. It runs each Saturday from 11.00 am to 5.00 pm.

The Book Market regularly features around 15 of Melbourne's most experienced book dealers as well as creators. There are second hand books as well as books on specialised areas from Russian literature to Asian Arts; from poetry to children's picture books.

Books Illustrated attends the market on the second Saturday of each month. As well as a range of quality children's books and a display of prints, we have the added attraction of an illustrator working on our stand being filmed live and shown on the big screen!
