Haven’t seen the Myer Christmas windows yet?

We are thrilled that this year the window decorations are based on our very own Australian picture book Little Dog and the Christmas Wish, published by Walker Books Australia.

Both author Corinne Fenton and illustrator Robin Cowcher  live in Melbourne, the city featured in this story… historically set in
the 1950’s.

This illustrated story is a wonderful tribute to the city and the spirit of Christmas!  Robin dropped in to Books Illustrated to bring her newly printed limited edition prints and gift cards (printed by Splitting Image).

Little Dog and the Christmas Wish team at Federation Square Book Market
Saturday Dec 12, 12noon to 3pm.

Both Corinne and Robin will join us at our stand, so it’s an opportunity to have a book signed personally and to chat about their experience of having this book the feature of the Myer Christmas window!
Three limited edition prints and also greeting cards from the book will be on display and for sale.

Share a Story with The Australian Children’s Laureate – ACLA

Jackie French has almost completed her two-year appointment as Australian Children’s Laureate. We acknowledge her many great achievements during her term, and know she will continue to promote the importance of reading through her work and many projects - as do our previous laureates Alison Lester and Boori Pryor. An official and cheery afternon tea event was held recently at the National Library in Canberra to thank Jackie and celebrate her Laureateship.

The 2016/17 Australian Children’s Laureate will be announced on February 8.

You can read more about the Laureate program and how you can support it at www.childrenslaureate.org.au.

Ron Gorman, ACLA Chair and AISWA Depty Director, Jackie French, Australian Children's Laureate 2015-2016 and Ann James, ACLA founding board member and Books Illustrated Director at the Thank you Event at the National Library of Australia.  To see more photos from the event visit the Laureate Facebook page.

In support of the Laureate program, Shaun Tan has released a very limited edition print (of 53), an illustration from his picture book The Red Tree. There are only a few left so be quick to secure your print from this rare edition.

REMINDER The Red Tree special print - limited edition of 53.

Ann James in Armidale

Ann James had a wonderfully busy time in Armidale, NSW recently, organised by a great team from the CBCA New England Branch and the New England Writers Centre.

Over 5 days she held sessions in 6 local schools; another two more remotely, in an on-line session from New England University; an adult illustration workshop; and launched Thre Dragons for Christmas, a lovely picture book written and illustrated by local creators and published by local Chrsitmas Press!

These inspiring pastel drawings were created in an illustration workshop by the brilliant kids at Minimbah Aboriginal Primary School.

Ann says, ‘Thank you Armidale! What a fabulous week we had together.'
