Books Illustrated Open Showroom days

An opportunity to visit our showroom in person to view our fabulous range of books, prints, original illustrations and illustrator greeting cards and get expert advise on selections for various ages.

Dromkeen Homestead’s new owners and Books Illustrated are celebrating the history of Dromkeen and children’s literature with the opening of an exhibition of  The John Barrow Collection of Australian Children’s Book Illustration on Sunday December 7. 

This will be the first showing of the John Barrow collection which includes original artworks by some of Australia’s well-known illustrators including Graeme Base, Ann James, Alison Lester, Bob Graham, Terry Denton, Jane Tanner, Julie Vivas and many more. 

The collection features work from the modern classic era of Australian Children’s Literature, 1980 - 2004. This is an opportunity for creators, publishers, booksellers, teachers, librarians and other children’s literature enthusiasts to revisit Dromkeen, reminisce gain insight into the future vision for the homestead.

Federation Square Book Market -  Saturday Dec 13 
From 12.30pm to 3pm Madeleine Myer’s Illustration techniques will be projected on the big screen in the Atrium. Meet Madeleine and have some books signed personally.
Our stand will be featuring her two children’s picture books The Carpet  and  How long is a piece of String, published by Windy Hollow Books, $25.95
Ceramic artist Madeleine Meyer has been a maker and drawer all her life. She has often decorated her quirky ceramic pieces with stories, and is now transferring her stories to paper.

Gabrielle Wang has recently released a series of beautiful limited edition prints from her book The Wishbird.
